The Aledo Area Chamber of Commerce met for lunch at The Rusty Bucket on Tuesday, Nov. 10. Members were encouraged to keep Aledo Mayor Jack Doherty’s family in their prayers. The funeral will take place at St. Catherine’s at 1:30 p.m. tomorrow on Veteran’s Day.

The funeral will last around an hour, with downtown businesses encouraged to step outside around 2:30 p.m. as the procession travels down College Ave. There will be a short stop in front of City Hall after the service.

An email sent to chamber members by Aledo Main Street Program Director Pam Myers stated:

“We would welcome all business owners, staff, employees and residents who may not be able to attend the funeral to line the streets of College Ave.- Main Street, step outside their businesses, or come to College Ave if your business is not located in the downtown. This will be for a moment of silence and respect at approximately 2:30 p.m."

Doherty was on the original board of directors for Aledo Main Street and was a stalwart supporter of the organization.
