Boney’s is celebrating 60 years in business in Aledo by remodeling its store.

“We are going to celebrate with food and prizes,” said Drue Baugher. The celebration is set for Nov. 14 and 15. The anniversary also corresponds with a remodeling of the store.

“We had three goals in mind with the remodel,” said Baugher. “We wanted to add an Amerock cabinet hardware display, increase the size of our electrical and plumbing department and move  merchandise  to the floor instead of the warehouse.”

“We’re adding over 1,200 more items,” said Baugher.

“And we are not done yet,” said Mike. “When we are finished we will have thousands of items.”

To increase what they are offering Drue and Mike have added several feet of shelving and will be re-merchandising the entire store.

“We have a new line of bathroom vanities,” said Drue.

Drue admitted to selling items out of boxes recently when the merchandise was coming in faster than they could display it.

“What a wonderful way to celebrate our 60th anniversary,” said Drue. “This all came about by listening to what our customers have asked for.”

The business opened in 1949 at the current site of Salon on Second under the leadership of Edgar Boney.

On Feb. 4, 1980, Boney’s moved to its current site on the east edge of Aledo.
