The Eliza American Legion Fish Fry was held on Veterans Day as usual. Ed Schrock of Seaton is a member and helped as usual with this year's annual event on Wednesday, Nov. 11 at the Eliza Community Center. Mary, Ed's wife also helps with the bake sale during the event. Mary is well known for her baking skills and this year was featured on the cover of the "Season Eatings" holiday recipes insert in thepaper for her apple cheese bread. Mary advises it is best to eat the bread while still warm.

Ed and Mary's son, Brian is visiting for two weeks. He always comes at this time of year to deer hunt with a bow. Last weekend, Brian's son Nick and a friend of Brian's came to hunt for just the weekend. The warm weather and crops still in the field didn't help the hunting so the two went home empty handed.
