Tate and Mary Ann Vroman and Jim and Linda Widdop returned from Ely, Minn., after their New Year's adventure. This is the second year they have gone dog-sledding. The more advanced route was taken this year, with a very scenic route and some spills on the sled of advanced kind by the Widdop's. It was a -30 degrees cold experience but a great time.
Randy and Laura McGinnis attended the Mayhew Christmas party at Sharon and Gary Mayhew's in Aledo. There were 25 members of the John and Darlene Kimball Mayhew family present for a noon potluck. Skyler and Kelsey Murphy from this area were there, they are great-granddaughters of Darlene. Maurice and Jeanean Kimball stopped by to visit in the afternoon. Randy and Laura McGinnis are traveling buddies with Gary and Sharon and are invited yearly to this gathering.
Rylan McAlister had his "7" birthday Jan. 3 with seven little boys at the party. A noisy afternoon was enjoyed with snacks and fancy 'camouflage' cake served.
Kids Club starts up again on Wednesday at Illinois City United Methodist Church. It starts after school at 3:30 and finishing at 5:15 p.m. after an evening meal. All area kids are welcome for Bible study, crafts, fun and food.
Fred and Janet Bryant drove to Aurora, Colo. for Christmas. Ellen Woodall, Janet's sister, and Roy Bryant, their son live in that area. They were there for one week. They missed the bad road conditions by leaving on Dec. 21.
Jordan Lloyd of Pine Bluff, for a school community project, is collecting heavy duty type gloves and mittens for the homeless shelter residents in Muscatine. All donations will be appreciated.
