Wind and rain make travel hazardous

Students at Sherrard, Mercer County and Rockridge school districts had a short day Wednesday, Jan. 20, as the districts closed the doors to the respective schools early. Mercer County and Sherrard Schools were cancelled at 9 a.m. Rockridge ended the day at 11:15 a.m.

Rain and high winds combined with freezing temperatures made travel conditions dangerous as day wore on.

United canceled school before that morning, keeping staff and students home.
