The Mercer County Junior High Wrestling Squad had a dual meet on Jan. 26 at the Intermediate School in Aledo against Monmouth Roseville. MC Golden Eagles won the dual 58-24. Winning for the Eagles were: Drake Stirn by a pin, Alex Kisner by a pin, Zeke Snyder by a pin, Hank Connor by a pin, Chris Neeld by a pin, Matthew Weeks won 14-4 and Treyton Hileman by a pin. Curtis Van Winkle, Ben Fippinger and Tristan Finch all received forfeits for the team. In exhibition matches Trae Blaser won 6-1, Ashton Klingaman won 6-0, Will Drowns had a pin and Alex Kisner had a pin.
Ida Steepleton was in Rock Island Saturday night at her brother and sister-in-law’s Bob and Patty Gordon. Bob and Patty were having their son Jeff’s birthday supper. Renea Anderson hosted a ladies lunch of soups, breads and desserts in honor of her mom, Norma Morrison’s birthday on Sunday, Jan. 24. This has become a family tradition. Just the “girls” in the family get together. This year there were 22, there that included five little girls age 2 and under, four great granddaughter and one great great-granddaughter.
Nancy Sloan of rural Seaton had a birthday on Jan. 25 and her granddaughter Megan Dillie of Joy, a senior at MC High School had her 18th birthday on the same day.
Brian and Jennifer Franks and their daughters, Justine and Paige have moved into the two-story house by the bridge on the west side of town. This was the Nettie Owens house many years ago and sat empty for a few years. The last tenant didn’t live there very long.
