Carolyn McGuire of Seaton and her granddaughter Allison Coulter both had a birthday on Feb. 16.

The ASA girls’ softball team, Bi-County Thunder, coached by Kevin Terrill of Alexis competed in an indoor tournament in Pekin on Sunday, Feb. 14. Chris and Jo Weeks’ oldest daughter, Brianna Weeks of Seaton plays on the team as does Renea Anderson’s granddaughter, Morgan Weeks of Aledo. The girls played three games on Sunday, winning one. Chris and Jo, Mitch and Rhonda Riley of Aledo, Scott Springer of Seaton, Mark and Toni Weeks and sons of Aledo and Renea were all in Pekin watching the tournament at the Dragon Dome. On Sunday evening, after the tournament, Mark and Toni had a birthday party for their sons, Matthew and Mason who turned 13 on Feb. 13. Several family members were there, including their great-grandmother, Norma Morrison of Joy. Their cousin, Christian Weeks of rural Seaton was celebrating his 16th birthday and he was honored also. Each of the boys had a cupcake with a candle in it and there was also angel food cake with strawberries on it brought by Great Grandma Norma. Christian is the son of Pete and Shelley Robinson of the Seaton area.

Hazel Scheckles is now a resident of Aledo Health and Rehab Center. She was living with her daughter and son-in-law, Leona and Rich Springer.

The Mercer County Junior High wrestling team remained undefeated through Feb. 17, 2010. In a dual with Sherrard at the Intermediate School in Aledo on Feb. 16 the Golden Eagles defeated Sherrard 44-18. Winning for the Golden Eagles were Ben Fippinger, Tristin Finch, Zeke Snyder, Chris Neeld, Matthew Weeks, Treyten Hileman and Bobby Lincoln. In exhibition matches Tyler Ziegenhorn had a pin. On Wednesday, Feb, 17, the Golden Eagles wrestled Knoxville at the Intermediate School and won 47-31. They then wrestled Rockridge and won 64-24. Double winners on the night were Drake Stirn a pin and a forfeit, Ben Fippinger a pin and a forfeit, Curtis VanWinkle a TF and a forfeit, Matthew Weeks two pins, and Treyten Hileman a pin and a major decision. Not everyone got to wrestle twice. Other winners on the night were Tomas Malone pin, Hank Connor pin, Quinten Ball pin, Alex Kisner pin, Mason Weeks a decision 6-2, Zeke Snyder a decision 10-4, Chris Neeld pin, Matt Sedam pin and Tristin Finch pin.
