At Monday night’s (April 5, 2010) Aledo City Council meeting, two trash hauler bids were submitted to the city of Aledo for this spring’s clean-up days, scheduled for the week of April 19-23 for residences north of Route 17 and the week of April 26-30 for residences south of Route 17. People are encouraged to have their spring cleaning items at the curb by 7 a.m. Monday on their week.

A bid of $9,250 from T & A Disposal, LLC, was accepted for the project.

“These are our youngest waste haulers we’ve registered,” said Steve Moller, public works director.

“We’ve limited it to one pass through the city. There will be  a back-up dumpster at the city garage,” he added.

The city will not pick up white goods (stoves, refrigerators, washers, dryers), brush, limbs, yard waste, tires, batteries, oil, paint or other toxic substances. No item weighing more than 50 pounds should be left at the curb. The city is also restricting the amount to one pick-up load per household.
