Youth Safety Day is April 10
The Milan Optimists and Rock Island County 4-H are offering a free Youth Safety Day on Saturday, April 10 from 9 am - Noon at the University of Illinois Extension, 321 West 2nd Ave., Milan. IL. There will be 490 free youth bicycle helmets distributed. Children and families are invited to the free event where they will have the chance to learn about bicycle safety, pet safety, fire safety, food safety, and get a Child ID Cards.
The Quad City Bicycle Club invites attendees to bring their bicycle and helmet and try their safety course and stations. They will learn bicycle safety just in time for the warm weather and increased riding. The Quad City Animal Welfare Center will present "Playing it Safe with Dogs" every half hour at 9:30, 10, 10:30 and 11 a.m. The Moline Masons will be offering the chance to update your child's records and get a free child ID card and fingerprints through their Illinois CHIP ID Safety Program. It's a great way to protect a child and aid authorities if they are ever missing. The Blackhawk Fire Department will have their fire safety house open for tours to teach visitors about fire safety and prevention. University of Illinois Extension's Expanded Food and Nutrition Program staff will teach food safety and provide healthy snack recipes and tasting samples. The Milan Optimists Club will also be serving free hot dogs, juice and popcorn.
