Alexis freezes salaries

Members of the Alexis Village Board approved freezing the salaries of all village employees for a one-year period due to the economic situation. That action was taken after a closed session was held to discuss personnel.

A flood ordinance, required by FEMA, was approved. The previous ordinance was updated to comply with requirements.

Clerk Dixie McCreight was appointed officer for the Sunshine Law, which pertains to the Open Meeting Act. She will be in charge of obtaining minutes of past meeting if they are requested.

Board members approved three liquor licenses for the coming year at a cost of $1,200 each. They are Class A for Jigg's Cardinal Inn for sale and consumption; Jack & Jill Store and Cardinal Convenience, both Class B, for sales only.

In routine matters, the March meeting minutes, the treasurer's report with interfund transfers and payment of monthly bills were approved.

A public meeting was scheduled for Tuesday, May 4 at the Alexis Community Center for the purpose of providing general information to the public regarding the proposed USDA loan/grant.

Date of the next regular meeting is May 10, 7 p.m. at the Community Center.
