Affordable rental housing with new single-family homes

Cathy Decker/Staff reporter
New affordable rental housing may be coming to Aledo, Viola and New Windsor. This is a rendering of what one of the homes might look like.

The Daveri Development Group is in search of three or more communities in Mercer County to build from 10 to 20 single family homes in each, for a total of from 40 to 50 homes.

The homes will be federally and state financed and affordable to families earning less than $42,900 annually (for a family of six). The homes will be rented from $300 a month to $800 a month, depending on household income.

Amenities include two, three or four bedrooms, an attached garage, a front porch, screen doors, window treatments, wired for high-speed Internet access, Energy Star appliances, washer/ dryer, microwave, ceiling fans, large storage spaces, community gardens, playground or tot lot.

Interested communities with available land for sale (2.5 acres or more) must be identified by fall 2010.
