Earl W. Rosene, 85, of Independence, Mo., formerly of New Windsor, died Friday, Aug. 27, 2010, in Independence. Services are 1 p.m. Saturday at the Peterson Wallin Knox Funeral Home in Alpha. Burial is in Western Twsp Cemetery, Orion. Visitation is one hour prior to services Saturday where memorials may be left to the Tri-County Ambulance or Liberty Hospital Hospice.  Online condolences can be made at www.petersonwallinknox.com

He was born Jan. 28, 1925 in New Windsor, son of Nels and Gladys Clark Rosene. He attended the New Windsor schools and married Margaret Willhouse May 9, 1954 in Norwood. She died Sept. 18, 2006.

He was employed briefly at the Rock Island Arsenal before enlisting in the U.S. Army Air Force during WW II. Earl retired in 1984 from John Deere in Moline.

He was a member of the New Windsor Presbyterian Church, the National Horseshoe Pitchers Assoc. and was an avid bowler.

Survivors include a daughter Kathy Swanson of Independence, a sister Marilyn Zuidema of Alpha, three nieces and a nephew.

His parents, wife, one son, Kevin and two sisters preceded her in death.
