Shirley A. Boruff, 79, of Buffalo Prairie died Saturday Sept. 4, 2010 at Genesis East in Davenport, Iowa. Services were Wednesday at the Buffalo Prairie Presbyterian Church. Burial was in Buffalo Prairie Cemetery. Visitation was from 4-8 p.m. Tuesday at the Fippinger Funeral Home in Aledo where an Order of Eastern Star service will be at 8 p.m. Memorials may be left to the Buffalo Prairie Presbyterian Church or the OES Prairie Chapter # 516. She was born July 25, 1931 in Aledo to Roy "Ted" and Helen Scott Guthrie. Shirley graduated from Keithsburg High School in 1949 and attended Western Illinois Teachers College in Macomb. On Aug. 31, 1952 she was united in marriage to Vaughn R. Boruff at the College Avenue Presbyterian Church in Aledo.

Shirley was a homemaker and enjoyed working as a bookkeeper for area businesses including the Taylor Ridge Elevator retiring in 2004.

Her memberships include the Buffalo Prairie Presbyterian Church and its Women's Association, the OES Prairie Chapter # 516 of which she was a 50-year member and the Delta Zeta Sorority. She enjoyed traveling, sewing, shopping and spending time with her family and grandchildren.

Survivors include her husband, Vaughn, three sons, Chet (Joy) Boruff of Moline and their children Scott (Amanda) Boruff and Amy Boruff, all of Chicago; Greg (Diane) Boruff of Reynolds, and their children, Abby Boruff of West Des Moines, Iowa; Rob Boruff of Bettendorf; Melissa (John) Barnell of Andalusia, Nicole (Brandon) Lafever of Illinois City, Kayla Massey of Reynolds; Stan (Karla) Boruff of Illinois City and their children Nick (Marissa) Boruff of Reynolds, Alyssa Boruff of Davenport, Iowa and Taylor Boruff of Illinois City; seven great grandchildren, Will, Colin, Kimber, Hailie, Isabelle, Natalie and Garrett; one step-sister, Beverly Dilenbeck of Geneseo.

Her parents and one step-brother Harry Bensenberg Jr. preceded her in death.
