Arlene J. Gidel, 84, of Taylor Ridge, died on Saturday, Sept. 18, 2010 at Avonlea Cottage, Milan. Funeral Services were Tuesday at 10 a.m. at the Edgington Presbyterian Church. Burial was in Edgington Cemetery. Visitation wass Monday from 4 to 6 p.m. at Speer Funeral Home, Aledo. Memorials may be made to Edgington Presbyterian Church or to Avonlea Cottage.
Arlene Joy Baker was born on April 26, 1926 in Reynolds, to Hale and Lillie (Carlson) Baker. She was united in marriage to Richard Gidel. He preceded her in death in 1989.
Arlene enjoyed the outdoors, especially farming with her husband on the family farm near Edgington. She also enjoyed hunting, especially with her hunting dog “Doc.” Arlene loved caring for her many pets, especially her dogs. She was a devoted member of the Edgington Presbyterian Church. She retired from Rock Island Farmall.
Arlene is survived by several nieces and nephews: Gary and Judy Baker, Jerry and Ella Mae Baker and Mark and Lisa Baker, all of Aledo and Gloria Bewley and Terry Jones of Avon and all of their families.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; brothers, Lloyd and Jack Baker and a nephew, Bill Baker.
