Ruth V. Chandler, 90, of Aledo, loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother passed away peacefully to heaven in the evening hours of Saturday, Sept. 18, 2010 in her home. Graveside services are 11 a.m. Thursday at the Aledo Cemetery.

Visitation is from 7-8 p.m. Wednesday at the Fippinger Funeral Home in Aledo where memorials may be left to the Mercer County Hospital.

She was born Dec. 6, 1919 in Downing, Mo., daughter of Harold and Lalah May Brewer Knupp. She married Paul M. Chandler in 1942 at Kahoka, Mo. He died Aug. 1, 1965 in Aledo.

Ruth was a homemaker and enjoyed the outdoors especially gardening and taking care of her flowers. She was known for her green thumb for both indoor and outdoor flowers and her favorite time of year was spring. She enjoyed cooking, especially baking angel food cakes and in her younger years she enjoyed playing cards. In the past few years she looked forward to her daily trip to get an ice cream cone. She really enjoyed seeing her great-granddaughter several times a week and would always say "bring that baby here."

Survivors include her son, Morton Chandler of Aledo, two granddaughters, Heidi (Mike) Koester of Aledo, Heather (Matt) Powell of Morgantown, Ind., one great-granddaughter Nicole Koester of Aledo, one brother John and one sister, Myra.

In addition to her husband Paul, she was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Homer.
