Richard “Dick” L. Davis

Richard “Dick” L. Davis, 77, Keithsburg, died on Wednesday, Sept. 22, 2010 at his home. Services were at 3 p.m. with visitation from 1 - 3 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 25 at Keithsburg First Christian Church. Burial was in Greenmound Cemetery, Keithsburg. Dennison Funeral Home, Aledo, handled the arrangements. Memorials may be left to the First Christian Church or Henderson County Hospice. Rev. Charles Reynolds officiated. Organist was Lavota Armstrong.

Pallbearers were Chris Hills, Yancy Hills, Bill Johnson, Dave Coppes, Rick Seals, Dean Johnson. Honorary Pallbearers were: Cliff Hobart, Robert Miller, Dick Nylin and Jack Gridley. Online condolences may be left at www.dennisonfuneralhome.com.

Dick was born on Nov. 22, 1932 in Keithsburg, son of Roy E. and LaVella M. Smith Davis. Dick worked at JI Case, Bettendorf for 30 years, retiring in 1981.

Dick loved baseball, especially watching his beloved Cleveland Indians and attending Burlington Bee’s games. Dick enjoyed building model airplanes. As an outdoorsman he liked to hunt and fish, even trying his hand at commercial fishing for several years. He was a member of the Keithsburg First Christian Church and Keithsburg Boat Club.

Dick was survived by his sister, Shirley Coppes, Keithsburg, and his brother, Gary Davis of New Boston. He was also survived by several nieces and nephews, four special great-nieces and great-nephews, Alexandra and Austin Hills and Hannah and Hayden Johnson and his special friends in the family section at the Burlington Bee’s Ballpark.

Dick was preceded in death by his brother, Robert and brother-in-law, Loren Coppes.
