Two accidents on Hwy 17 being investigated

This Ford truck received a good amount of damage this morning just west of Viola on Hwy 17, in a two vehicle accident involving the truck and a semi.

The Mercer County Sheriff's office was kept busy Thursday morning, Nov. 4, 2010.

A truck and semi tractor collision on US Hwy 17, about one mile west of Viola happened shortly before 9 a.m. today. The Mercer County Sheriff's department, Mercer County's Advanced Medical Transport ambulance and the Viola Fire Department responded to that accident.

This was the second traffic accident within an hour the sheriff's department had to investigate. Sometime shortly after 8 a.m. another accident occurred on Hwy 17 near the entrance to Winola Elementary in the village of Viola. There were no children injured at this accident.

The sheriff's department is still investigating both incidents.
