William Dale Bivens, 85, of Keithsburg died Thursday, Nov. 11, 2010 at Mercer County Nursing Home, Aledo. Bill was a WWII Army Veteran. Masonic services conducted by Buffalo Prairie Masonic Lodge No. 679 were held Saturday at Bewley Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Aledo.

Visitation was 9 - 11 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home.  Burial was in the Hamlet cemetery with Military honors by Mercer County VFW Post 1571. Memorials may be given to Mercer County VFW Post 1571 or the Buffalo Prairie Masonic Lodge No. 679. Online condolences may be expressed to his family at bewleyfuneralhome.com.

Bill was born March 13, 1925 in Duncan Township, the son of John M. and Ruby Catherine Marston Bivens. He married Seville Sackfield in Matherville on April 5, 1947.

Bill was a truck driver and farmer. He was of Baptist faith. He was a life member of the Mercer County VFW Post 1571, a member of the Buffalo Prairie Lodge No. 679 and Eastern Star.

Bill enjoyed playing cards, bowling, dancing and watching baseball and golf.

Survivors include his wife, Seville; daughters, Sarah Harroun, Moline, Peggy A. Bivens, Summerfield, Kell Sackfield-Bivens, Seaton; grandchildren, Jennifer (Michael) Richter, Suzanne DeKeyrel, Bill (Barb) Harroun; great-grandchildren, Katie and Rachel Richter, Annaleigh and Jack Harroun; sisters-in-law, Mary, Eileen and Phyllis Bivens.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Allen, Richard, Johnnie, and Raymond Bivens; sisters, Leona Elliott, Mary Hauck, Navola Schmidt and Minerva Coltrane; sister-in-law, Mildred Bivens and son-in-law, Larry Harroun.
