Besides a great meal, the open house had something special for guests to enjoy, including a musical medley of WW II era songs done in the style of The Andrew Sisters, sung by Kris Salmon, Patti Hanson, Carli Robison accompanied on piano by Cherie Tracy. There was a brief history of the 75 years of the VFW Hall's main accomplishments, some audience memory sharing and of course, door prizes.

A special plaque and American Flag from CM Sgt, USAF John Balmer was presented to Post Commander George Baxa by Thomas and Jeanne Balmer of Aledo. The flag flew over the Craig Joint Theater Hospital at Bagram Airvield, Afghanistan on Sept. 11, 2010.

Illinois Commander Bill Wolff gave a brief speech, honoring the post's length of service to the community and presented the post with a framed Diamond Jubilee Award from the National VFW organization.
