Ellsworth “Maggie” Junior Magedanz, 88, Keithsburg, died Saturday, Nov. 27, 2010 at Mercer County Nursing Home, Aledo. Services are at 1 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 1, with visitation two hours prior at Keithsburg First Christian Church. Burial will be in Greenmound Cemetery, Keithsburg. Dennison Funeral Home, Aledo, is handling arrangements. Memorials may be made to Keithsburg First Christian Church or Keithsburg Volunteer Fire Department. Maggie was born March 9, 1922, in Foley, Minnesota, son of Benjamin and Beatrice Mills Magedanz. He married Gertrude Wilson on Nov. 25, 1945 in Chicago. She preceded him in death in 1981.

Maggie was a welder at John Deere for 20 years, retiring in 1987. He served in the Navy during World War II and was a member of the Keithsburg First Christian Church. He enjoyed woodworking and puttering around the house and lawn. He especially enjoyed visiting — he didn’t know a stranger.

He is survived by three daughters, Joyce Scovil, Keithsburg; Linda (Junior) Cameron, Matherville and Bea (Brad) Ryan, Warrenville; one son, Ellsworth “Maggie” (Debbie) Magedanz, Aledo; seven grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, sisters - Vivian Mitchell and Joyce Magedanz and brother - Merritt Magedanz.
