Earl Glenn Kistler

Earl Glenn Kistler, 88, of Aledo, died on Friday, Dec. 10, 2010 at Resthave Home, Morrison. Services are 1 p.m. Thursday at the First Baptist Church, Aledo. Visitation is 4 to 6 p.m. Wednesday at Bewley Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Aledo. Burial will be in the Aledo cemetery with Military honors conducted by the Mercer County VFW Post 1571. Earl was born May 12, 1922 in Marston, the son of Merle and Tessie Taylor Kistler. He married Lenore Sherrard on June 14, 1946 in Cambridge. Earl served in the Army during WW II in France and Germany including Battle of the Bulge. Earl owned the Kistler Hatchery & Feed store and the Buffalo Prairie Mill while employed by Mercer County. He retired in 1984.

He was a member of the First Baptist Church, Aledo, where he served as a deacon. He was a member of the Mercer County VFW Post 1571 and Exchange Club where he was a past president. Earl enjoyed woodworking, boating and camping. He was a lifeguard at the Aledo pool during high school and college.

Survivors (and spouses) include his wife, Lenore; children, Thomas (Dorothy) Kistler, Riverview, Fla., Timothy (Cynda) Kistler, Morrison, Nancy (Jim) Crawford, Aledo; grandsons, Jeffrey (Sharon) Kistler, N. C., Adam (Frances) Kistler, Bolingbrook, Matthew (fiancee, Diane Roberson) Kistler, Milwaukee, Wis,; great-grandchildren, Benjamin, Zachary, Emma and one expected Jan. 1, 2011 and a sister, Lenore Bethell, Aledo.

He was preceded in death by his parents.
