Lyle D. Lemon
Lyle D. Lemon, 88, of Aledo, died Saturday, Dec. 11, 2010 at home. Graveside services are 10 a.m. Tuesday at the Aledo cemetery. He was born May 7, 1922 near Sugar Grove in Mercer County, a son of Meigs and Vera Nesbitt Lemon. He attended Black Oak School and married Frances R. Connerley June 19, 1941 in Kahoka, Mo.
Lyle owned and operated L.D. Lemon Disposal in Aledo for more than 30 years. He enjoyed helping area farmers and operated heavy equipment for a number of years. He loved tractor pulling and traveled all over the Midwest with his antique Allis Chalmers tractors pulling at various fairs and carnivals. He was a member of the Bald Bluff, River Bend and Eastern Iowa Antique Tractor Pulling Associations.
Survivors include his wife, Frances, a daughter, Carol (Butch) King, two sons, Bob (Barb) Lemon and Charlie (Kathy Goodman) Lemon all of Aledo; four granddaughters, Shelly (Marcus Lingafelter) Imler of Aledo, Kelly Jo (Brian) Preston of Taylor Ridge, Valerie (John) Hacker of Hoffman Estates and Amy (Greg) Harris of Indianapolis, Ind.; a grandson, Mark (Kym) McCullough of Aledo; 11 great grandchildren and a brother, Darrell (Dorothy) Lemon of Estes Park, Colo,
His parents, and three brothers, Leonard, George and Donnie, preceded him in death.
