Aledo city administrator to retire

Janice Green, Aledo city administrator, has announced her retirement effective June 5, 2011. "I want to thank my fellow employees and community members for their support and commitment during my tenure as city administrator," said Green. "It has been an honor to serve the city of Aledo."

She said she made this decision serveral months ago. "With a new mayor and several new council members taking office, it's an opportune time to bring in a new city administrator, and I have told Mayor-elect Breeden that I would assist in any way needed during the transistion."

Green said that while she is retiring from full-time work, she will look for the opportunity to continue working in a part-time capacity.

Green began employment with the city of Aledo in 2006 as finance director and was named city administrator in 2009.

Mayor-elect Breeden commented, "Janice told me early on of her plans to retire as city administrator. She has been a great resource for the city, especially in the area of finance. I would like to see her stay, but I respect her decision to retire from the city administrator position."

Breeden will be appointing both a city administrator and police chief. "I have studied. options and solicited input. I have made a decsion that I feel is best for the city and I will present information to council members for their input on May 2," said Breeden.

The new mayor and city council members will be sworn in on Monday, May 2, at the 6:45 p.m. meeting.
