Rhubarb Fest starts with perfect day

Ohio sand artist Aaron Costic starts working on a four-tiered sand sculpture at the Aledo Rhubarb Festival. Behind him is the Big Blue Rhubarb tasting tent.

It's a great day to be outdoors, especially in Aledo, where the 20th annual Rhubarb Festival is taking place June 3-4. All day family friendly fun is a promise.

Special music will run in Central Park's Band Shell from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Friday and 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. Saturday. Sand sculptor Aaron Costic, a freelance artist from Ohio, is preparing a four-tiered rhubarb related sand sculpture working both days in Aledo Central Park's fountain.

A tasting tent offering free samples of rhubarb treats runs from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. both days as well.
