Body found in road in rural Sherrard

On Aug. 24 Mercer County Sheriff's Deputies were called to investigate a call of a person found lying onthe road near rural Sherrard. Deputies found the person, a male white, was deceased. The incident is under investigation by the Mercer County Sheriff's Office. The Sheriff's Office called the Illinois State Police Crime Scene Services to assist in the investigation. The identity of the male is being withheld pending coroner's notification of the family. The nature of the death is being considered questionable.
