Lois Y. Giffin

Lois Y. Giffin, 83, of Aledo, died Friday, May 4, 2012 at the Mercer County Nursing Home. Services were 11:30 a.m., Tuesday, May 8, 2012 at Fippinger Funeral Home. Burial was in the Aledo Cemetery. Visitation was from 10 a.m. until the time of service at the funeral home where memorials may be left to the Sunbeam Presbyterian Church. Lois was born Nov. 25, 1928 in Elgin, a daughter of Roland and Hazel Watkins Mielkey. She graduated from Rock Island High School and married John A. Giffin, Jr. Sept. 14, 1947 in Milan. He died Dec. 8, 1997.

Lois was a homemaker, a member of the Sunbeam United Presbyterian Church and Mercer County VFW Post 1571 Auxiliary.

Survivors include one daughter: Sandra (Stephen) Lingafelter of Aledo; one son: William Giffin of Spokane, Wash.; three grandsons: Matthew (Kristen) Lingafelter of Galesburg; Marcus (Shelly Imler) Lingafelter of Aledo and Timothy Lingafelter of Chicago; four great-grandchildren: Ryan, Katee, Megan and Abby; and several nieces and nephews.

Her parents; husband John and one brother preceded her in death.
