Warren County Historical Society meeting is May 17
The Warren County Historical Society is holding its April meeting on Thursday, May 17 at 7 p.m. in the Grande Galley at the Warren County History Museum located at 238 S.
Sunnylane in Monmouth.
The program for the evening is part of an ongoing commemoration of the 150th anniversary of the Civil War. Tom Best, who teaches social studies in the Monmouth-Roseville School District and history courses at Monmouth College is presenting the program on the “83rd Illinois Infantry” that was organized at Monmouth in August, 1862 by Colonel A.C. Harding. It is a fascinating story and a proud part of Warren County’s History. A few artifacts from the Museum’s Civil War collection will also be on display. Refreshments will be served.
We truly want the input and ideas of all Warren County residents to help us tell the story of Warren County. We meet the 3rd Thursday of each month. Come be a part of history in the making. Call Susan Trevor, 734-4542 or Dixie Jenks, 734-6346 with any questions.
