Aledo man injured in accident

On Monday, May 21 around 4:15 p.m. the Aledo Police Department responded to an injury accident in the area of Il. Rt. 17 and S. E. 8th Avenue. A vehicle driven by Ronald Hutchins, 82, of Aledo, lost control of his vehicle and struck two unoccupied parked vehicles in the south parking lot of the Farm Service Agency. After the vehicle strict the two parked vehicles it continued east through a fence and into a storage shed located behind the Welch Plumbing Business. The vehicle came to rest inside the storage shed. The driver was pulled from the vehicle by some witnesses because of heavy smoke coming from the vehicle. The driver was transported to Mercer County Hospital by AMT Ambulance with non-life threatening injuries. The accident remains under investigation but it is believed the cause of the accident was medical related.

The Aledo Fire Department assisted a the scene and quickly distinguished any fire inside the buidling.
