Today, the Cheri Bustos for Congress campaign announced raising more than $470,000 in the second quarter--the most successful quarterly fundraising period of any campaign for the Illinois 17th District.   With nearly 6,000 individuals standing behind her, Bustos’ campaign to bring middle class values back to Washington also continues to gain incredible grassroots support.

“With their support, nearly 6,000 people are now standing with Cheri as she fights to fix Washington’s priorities and put the middle class and good jobs first,” said Allison Jaslow, Bustos’ campaign manager.  “Our campaign is gaining momentum by the day as voters continue to respond to Cheri’s steadfast commitment to Illinois working families and their desire to have a representative that works for them, not millionaires and corporations that ship our jobs overseas.”

This strong fundraising report follows a $420,000 first quarter for Bustos, which beat the effort made by her incumbent opponent and ranked her third among challenger candidates across the country.  "This puts our campaign on pace to have the resources needed to win in the recently redrawn 17th Congressional District in November," Jaslow said.

Cheri Bustos is a working mother with three grown sons and is the wife of a captain with the Rock Island County Sheriff’s Department.
