Mediacom to Televise Geneseo Wrestling Invitational Championship Matches

Mediacom is televising the 38th Annual Geneseo Wrestling Invitational championship matches. The tournament will include 20 high schools from Iowa, Wisconsin, and Illinois. The invitational has held its status for years as being one of the top ten wrestling tournaments in the United States and this year it will be hosting five of the top ten teams from Iowa.

The tournament will begin at 9:00 am on Saturday, January 12. Mediacom will cover the championship completion with the exclusive television broadcast on a tape delay airing on Thursday, January 17 at 8:00 pm.

In addition to hosting five of Iowa’s top ten wrestling teams, six nationally ranked teams from Wisconsin and Illinois will be competing in the invitational. On the individual level, six returning Geneseo Invitational Champions will be defending their titles, and more than 70 state-ranked wrestlers will try to win titles of their own.

Iowa teams competing in the tournament:

· Waverly-SR

· North Scott

· Pleasant Valley

· CR Kennedy

Illinois teams competing in the tournament:

· Geneseo

· Glenwood

· Granite City

· O’Fallon

· Providence

· Belvidere

· Chatham Glenwood

· Marian Catholic

· Dixon

· Palos Hills Stagg

· Moline

Wisconsin teams competing in the tournament:

· Arrowhead

· Franklin

· Mineral Point

The tournament will be shown exclusively on MC22, a basic cable channel available to all subscribers in Mediacom service areas in Wisconsin, Illinois, and Iowa. The complete tournament will be replayed throughout the month of January for those who are not able to watch it during the original broadcast. Viewers can go to and type the name of their favorite team in the search box to find replay times.

In addition to watching games on MC22, customers with digital cable service can view the events OnDemand. To access the games go to the OnDemand channel and choose the category, “MediacomLocal – MC22.” OnDemand program selections include recent tournaments, a variety of high school sports, music and other student competitions.
