Boraas earns rank of Eagle Scout
Lucas J. Boraas has earned the rank of Eagle Scout, the highest honor in the Boy Scouts of America.
The son of Brad and Teresa Boraas, of Sherrard, is a member of Troop #425, Preemption. Lucas is a Junior at Sherrard High School and plays football, basketball and is a member of The National Honor Society.
He has been a scout for 11 years and has also earned the God and Me as well as The Order of the Arrow award.
For his Eagle project Lucas restored a courtyard area in the outside of the school. He weeded, put in a walk path, built picnic tables and a pond. This area can now be used as an outdoor classroom for Jr. and Sr. High students at Sherrard. He led several people to help him with his project which totaled more than 300 hours of labor to complete.
