Sarah Brown, New CEO/Executive Director of the Mercer County Family YMCA

Aledo, Illinois—Bill Newswander, President of the Mercer County Family YMCA Board

of Directors, is pleased to announce the selection of Sarah Brown as the new CEO/Executive

Director of the YMCA.

Sarah is a graduate of Ashford University, Clinton Iowa, where she earned a Bachelor

of Organizational Management.  Sarah has been with Knox County YMCA since 1994, where

she is currently the Finance/Human Resource Director.  Prior to that, she also held various

other positions within the Y including Senior Program Director, Program Director, and Aquatic


Kurt Robinson chaired the search committee and said, “Out of the 32 candidates that

applied for the position, Sarah was very passionate about the Y mission, she believes in the

Mercer County YMCA and brings a wealth of knowledge and experience with her. Along with our

current dedicated staff, Sarah will help continue to grow the Mercer County YMCA and continue

to make it an asset to the community.”

“On Behalf of the Board of Directors, we are excited to have Sarah joining the Mercer

County Family YMCA. The board feels that with Sarah’s experience we are very lucky as a Y to

have her join the Mercer County Family YMCA team.” Said Bill.

Sarah is very excited to join the Aledo community and looks forward to connecting with

the Y staff, members, volunteers and supporters. Sarah will be starting on July 1st, once she is

settled in, the Board of Directors will be having an open house for the community to welcome
