The Mercer County Farm Bureau is hosting a Mobile Food Pantry in conjunction with the River Bend Food Bank on Wednesday, July 17, 2013 at Central Park in Aledo. Food Distribution will begin at 11:00 a.m. and registration will begin at 10:30 a.m. We request that no one arrives before 10:15 a.m. Please be prepared to wait as the distribution process can take up to two hours and dress appropriately for the weather as the distribution will take place outside. Also, please bring laundry baskets and rolling carts to transport the food.

Canned foods, non-perishable food items, frozen foods and fresh fruits and vegetables will be distributed. The County Line Youth Group in Edgington, Mercer County 4-H Federation, and Sherrard FFA Chapter will be assisting with the distribution.

The Mobile Food bank was paid for through Illinois Farm Bureau's "Bushels for Hunger" program. Farmers donate corn and soybeans which are sold at market price. Proceeds from the grain sales help buy food to feed hungry residents throughout the state.
