Man found dead in Sherrard

On March 11 the Mercer County Sheriff's Office received a 911 call regarding a deceased male in Sherrard. The following investigation revealed the deceased was 55 year old Alberto Alvarez of Rock Island. Mr. Alvarez had been reported missing on March 9, 2014.

After the performance of an autopsy determining the cause of death, there is no foul play suspected.

No other information is available at this time. This matter is still under investigation by the Mercer County Sheriff's Office, Mercer County Coroner, and Rock Island Police.

The Mercer County Sheriff's Office was also assisted at the scene by the CSI division of the Illinois State Police.
