EAST MOLINE, Ill.—Bobby Schilling, Republican candidate for U.S. House of Representatives in the Illinois 17th District, today called on Congresswoman Cheri Bustos (D-East Moline) to show her support for Obamacare and host a birthday party and a town hall tour to celebrate the law as its four year anniversary approaches tomorrow.

Schilling released the following statement:

"Congresswoman Bustos has pledged complete support for Obamacare to Nancy Pelosi, but she avoids talking about Obamacare entirely here at home. Why is that? If Obamacare is so good for working families, shouldn't Congresswoman Bustos be excited to talk about it?

"Tomorrow is the four year anniversary of Obamacare. Why won't Cheri Bustos host a birthday party to celebrate the law's anniversary? Why won't she hold a town hall tour in all fourteen counties across the district touting Obamacare's benefits? Wouldn't this be a great way to promote the law and educate people about how it impacts them? But Congresswoman Bustos isn't interested in doing that. Bustos knows that Obamacare is bad news for middle class families, so she has remained completely silent.

"The facts about Obamacare aren't good for middle class families in our district. Millions of Americans have lost their health insurance coverage, and millions more are facing skyrocketing premiums and higher deductibles, forcing struggling families to pay even more out of pocket. Now we're finding out that the $700 billion in Medicare cuts that Congresswoman Bustos supports are going to end Medicare as we know it by completely gutting the Medicare Advantage program. More than seven million seniors are set to lose their Medicare Advantage coverage in the next three years.

"If incumbent Congresswoman Bustos is going to support a law that devastates middle class families and seniors here in Illinois, then she needs to explain why. That's her job."

Key Questions for Congresswoman Cheri Bustos:

Yes or no - if you had the chance, would you vote to pass Obamacare today?

Why won't you hold town halls across the district?

Are you concerned by Obamacare's negative impact on the middle class?

What would you recommend working families cut out of their budget to pay for the health insurance premium increases caused by Obamacare?

How much have your health care costs risen since coming to Congress?

Do you believe Obamacare has been a success?
