Burlington Civic Music Presents Hudson Shad, Friday, April 4
Burlington, Iowa, March 27, 2014 – Burlington Civic Music Association is proud to present Hudson Shad as the seventh performance in its 2013-2014 season. The concert begins at 7:30 p.m. Friday, April 4, at Burlington Memorial Auditorium, 200 Front Street, Burlington, Iowa. Doors to the concert area open at 6:45 p.m. The performance is sponsored by Southeastern Community College.
Hudson Shad is Mark Bleeke, Timothy Leigh Evans, Peter Becker, Eric Edlund and group founder Wilbur Pauley. When they debuted in Germany in 1995, the national newsmagazine "Der Stern" hailed them as heirs to the Comedian Harmonists, an all-male German ensemble that performed between 1928 and 1934. They were one of the most successful musical groups in Europe before World War II. After focusing on their solo careers and performing Weill’s “Seven Deadly Sins” throughout the world the past few years, Hudson Shad returns with their elegant, funny and imaginative musical presentation. Their performances are entertaining and usually bring an audience to their feet. But their repertoire is not limited to the music of the Comedian Harmonists. They also focus on American hits from the 1920s to the 1970s including songs from The Revelers, The Mills Brothers, The Paul Whiteman Orchestra, Bing Crosby, Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin and the Beatles.
Civic Music Association’s final performance of the season is Golden Dragon Acrobats, 3:30 p.m. Sunday, May 11, at Memorial Auditorium.
