Injured driver found after lengthy search

On April 5 Mercer County Deputies responded to a single vehicle roll over accident on Knoxville Road near Swedona near midnight Saturday. The driver of the vehicle was not in or near the vehicle. Efforts were made to locate the vehicle's driver, whom was believed to be seriously injured. The driver, Justin Beeman, was eventually located near the crash site by a search party after a six and a half hour search. Beeman was transported from the scene by ambulance. The Mercer County Sheriff's Office would like to extend its gratitude and appreciation to the New Windsor Police Department, Sherrard Fire and Rescue, AMT Ambulance, District 7 Illinois State Police, Mercer County Search and Rescue, Medforce Helicopter EMS, and the victims family and friends for their assistance and efforts in locating the victim. Also, thank you to the Swedona Lutheran Church for opening their doors for use of their facilities and providing refreshments. The crash remains under investigation.
