National Drug Take-Back Initiative
The Aledo Police Department and DEA (Drug Enforcement Agency) is teaming up to be a part of the “National Drug Take-Back Initiative. This is a National Prescription Drug Take-Back Day which is being held on Saturday, April 26th, 2014 from 10:00 AM-2:00 PM. This is our fifth time to participate in this event. The drop-off location will be the City Parking Lot just east of the Aledo Police Department. This drop-off location will be a drive through area, where you drive through the parking lot, drop off your unwanted, unused prescription drugs, to safely dispose of those unused medications. There is no tracking, no questions asked, just drop them off and drive off.
Police Departments around the Country are seeing a large increase in the abuse of prescription drugs and locally also. This National Drug Take-Back Day will provide a unified opportunity for the public to surrender expired, unwanted, or unused pharmaceutical controlled substances and other medications to law enforcement officers for destruction. This one-day effort will bring national focus to the issue of pharmaceutical controlled substance abuse. Every day on the average 2,500 teens use prescription drugs to get high for the first time. Here is a great way to do your part and get rid of unwanted prescription drugs.
