Link is new Mercer County Fair Queen

Gretchen Simpson of Alexis won the Connie Brooks Memorial Trophy for showing the best wether at the 4-H Sheep Show Tuesday at the Mercer County Fair.

Shelby Link was named the Mercer County Fair Queen at the first day of the Mercer County Fair Tuesday. Grace Hoffpauir was named the 2014 Junior Miss and Ingrid Hays was named the 2014 Little Miss. "Under the Big Top was the theme to this year's event.

Named to the court of the Queen were: 1st Runner-up: Payton Carlson, 2nd Runner-up: Samantha Jones, 3rd Runner-up: Haley Peterson and 4th Runner-up: Anna Willems. Other awards were:

Miss Photogenic Payton Carlson and Miss Congeniality Samantha Jones

Named to the Junior Miss Court were: 1st Runner-up: Cassidy Freeman, 2nd Runner-up: Karlee Anderson, 3rd Runner-up: Chloe Neese and 4th Runner-up: Blakelyn Arendt. Other awards included Miss Photogenic Karlee Anderson and Miss Congeniality Jaid Hedger.

Named to the Little Miss Court were: 1st Runner-Up: Marley Haley; 2nd Runner-Up: Kylie Foster; 3rd Runner Up: Kelsey Doonan and 4th Runner Up: Zadee King

While the pageant was the highlight of the evenings events it wasn't the only thing going on that day.

Mercer County 4-Hers got things rolling with the rabbit, poultry and sheep shows that day.

Gretchen Simpson of Alexis showed the top wether at the sheep show and won the Connie Brooks Memorial Trophy.

At the poultry show Hunter Austin showed the grand champion pair of poultry while Cody Granatier's white silkies took the prize for champion pair and champion single.

At the 4-H Rabbit Show Taylor Guthrie and her brother Justin Guthrie shined. Taylor showed the grand champion meat pen. Justin's French Lop was named champion commercial junior doe.
