Guys with dice and girls with gams are storming The Orpheum. Prairie Players Civic Theatre is putting up its production of Guys and Dolls as a part of The Orpheum’s Red Carpet Series this weekend: July 18th and 19th at 7:30pm with a Sunday matinee on the 20th at 2:00pm. This production is sponsored by Blick Art Materials and F&M Bank.

Prairie Players Civic Theatre is teaming up with The Orpheum to put on this fun summer co-production with music and lyrics by Frank Loesser and book by Joe Swerling and Abe Burrows. Set in Damon Runyon’s mythical New York City, Guys and Dolls introduces us to colorful characters who have become legends in the musical theatre canon: Sarah Brown, the upright but uptight “mission doll”; Sky Masterson, the slick, high-rolling gambler who woos her on a bet and ends up falling in love; Adelaide, a nightclub performer whose chronic flu is brought on by the fact she’s been engaged to the same man for 14 years; and Nathan Detroit, her devoted fiancé, desperate as always to find a spot for an infamous floating dice game.

Tickets range from $15-$25 with student pricing at $10, and are available at The Orpheum Theatre Ticket Office at 57 South Kellogg Street in Galesburg or by phone at 309/342.2299. For more information, check out The Orpheum’s Facebook page:
