U of I Extension's Rain Gardens Telenet is September 23 and 25 in Milan and Aledo, IL

The Four Seasons Gardening program is your chance to learn from some of Illinois' leading lawn and garden experts. Each topic is presented via teleconference by a University of Illinois Extension horticulture expert. The cost is $5 per session.

“Getting Your Feet Wet with Rain Gardens” will be offered on September 23 at 1:30 p.m. and again on September 25 at 6:30 p.m. at U of I Extension, at University of Illinois Extension offices in Aledo and Milan, IL. Learn how to reduce your impact downstream by building a rain garden. U of I Extension horticulture educators Andrew Holsinger and Chris Enroth will introduce participants to the concepts and construction techniques of a successful rain garden. They will also discuss what plants work best in rain gardens.

“Hydroponics for the Home Gardener” is set for October 7 at 1:30 pm and again on October 9th at 6:30 p.m. at University of Illinois Extension offices in Aledo and Milan, IL. This session will provide a brief overview of some of the hydroponic systems that are suitable for small scale production. In addition, it will provide an outline to success for those interested in starting a small scale hobby hydroponic project. It will cover aspects such as fertilizer selection, timing, and most suitable crops for use in a home hydroponic system.
