“A Special Program for Women”
The Mercer County Farm Bureau Women’s Committee would like to cordially invite the ladies of Mercer County to their annual “Special Program for Women.”
The program will be on Friday, November 21, 2014 at Doug’s Town and Country Restaurant in Aledo. Registration will begin at 9:00 a.m. and the program will begin at 9:30 a.m. The cost of the program is $5 for members and $10 for nonmembers. The cost includes a sandwich, soup, pie, and a beverage.
The program will begin with Stephanie Godke, Chef & Culinary Instructor, presenting “Cast Iron Skillet Cooking.” She will talk about how to preseason and handle your cast iron cookware. She will also demonstrate some cooking techniques using cast iron cookware to prepare some fabulous meals and will share some recipes.
Next, Martha Smith, University of Illinois Extension Horticulture Educator, will present “Ages & Stages of Gardening.” Gardens and gardeners change over the years. For many, we had our cutting garden era and our day lily years followed by the Hosta craze and so on. As we age, we have to listen to our bodies and realize what we used to manage is becoming unmanageable. This program walks you through the stages of gardening. She will also talk about how to garden ‘smarter’. We all have to adjust to what we have in our landscapes and learn how manage it as we and our gardens ‘mature’.
Be sure not to miss this fantastic program created especially for the women of Mercer County. For more information and to make your reservation for this program, contact the Mercer County Farm Bureau at (309) 582-5116 by Wednesday, November 12th. Hurry! Space is limited to the first 50 people who sign up for the program.
