Putnam Polar Express Pajama Party Returns for 2014 Holiday Season

DAVENPORT, Iowa (November 6, 2014) – The Putnam Museum and Science Center announced today the return of the ever-popular Holiday Classic Polar Express Pajama Party on Friday December 19th and Saturday December 20th. Beginning at 5:30 p.m. visitors can partake in holiday fun such as decorating sleigh bells, face painting, holiday bingo and tic-tac-toe, hot cocoa, and even a snowman scavenger hunt through the Science Center and exhibit halls with the lights out! Visitors will then cap off their evening by watching Polar Express 3D in their PJs!

A member only pre-sale starts tomorrow, Friday November 7th at 10 a.m. with tickets on sale to the general public Friday November 21st at 10 a.m. Tickets are available by calling (563) 324-1933 and spots fill up fast! Visitors will have a choice of either a 6:00 p.m. showing or 8:15 p.m. showing of Polar Express 3D on either Friday December 19th or Saturday December 20th. Tickets prices are $9 for adults and $12 for youth.

On both Friday December 19th and Saturday December 20th the Museum and Science Center will close at 4:00 p.m. to allow for set up time for this event.

The Putnam will begin showing the film, Polar Express 3D beginning on Friday November 21st and throughout the holiday season. Please check www.putnam.org for movie show times.

In conjunction with the Festival of Trees and Quad City Symphony Orchestra, The Putnam is offering $5 movie vouchers for Polar Express 3D at the time of purchase of a Festival of Trees admission (vouchers may be purchased at the Information Booth at Festival of Trees) or with proof of purchase of a QCSO Holiday Pops ticket. Visitors may also purchase a $5 Festival of Trees ticket when they visit the Putnam and purchase their Polar Express 3D ticket. Offer valid November 21 – 30 only.

Lots to see and do at the Putnam

We have many great films playing in our National Geographic GIANT screen theater! Come watch Galapagos 3D to learn all about this wonderland of nature, with a remarkable collection of plants and charismatic animals that have all adapted to this unique environment. Or take in Prehistoric Planet: Walking with Dinosaurs to see what life was like when dinosaurs roamed the earth, and then go hunt for their bones in our NEW Dino Dig outdoor addition to our Science Center!

Visitors can also spend the day in our 10,000-square-foot Science Center, which features more than 45 hands-on stations that bring science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) concepts to life.

Back by popular demand-The Putnam’s Explorers and Explorers Jr. weekend workshops! The Explorers (for kids ages 2nd-6th grade) and Explorers Jr (for kids ages Pre-K through 1st grade) workshops give kids the opportunity to examine, investigate, create and invent in the world around them! Our next workshops are December 6th and 7th with a chemistry theme where explorers will find out how cool basic elements can be and participate in hands-on demonstrations.
