Rockets advance to quarterfinals

The Rockridge Rockets football team advanced to the quarterfinals Saturday with a 28-7 victory at Orion.

The Rockets will host Pearl City (Eastland-P.C.Coop) Saturday at 1 p.m. Pearl City defeated Spring Valley (Hall) in the second round.

The Rockets scored 14 points in the first quarter and led 21-0 at the half. The Rockets final score came in the fourth period and they built their lead to 28-0.

The Chargers added a score in the final minutes.

Luke Johnson started the scoring barrage with a 60 yard touchdown run at the 9:23 mark in the first quarter. Johnson ran for 242 yards during the contest.

With 2:44 remaining in the first quarter Johnson connected with Alex Harrison on a 19 yard touchdown pass.

In the second period Johnson broke free again for a 35 yard touchdown run.

In the final period it was Dalton Woeber's turn as he scored on a 37 yard touchdown run. Woeber finished the day with 103 yards rushing.

It was the second time this season the Rockets had defeated Orion. Rockridge beat Orion 43-21 on Sept. 12.

Orion finished the season with a record of 7-4. Rockridge improved to 10-1.
