Open house for 100th birthday

An open house will be held Sunday, Nov. 23 from 2-4 p.m. in the activities room at Genesis Senior Living.

Ida Budd Duncan will celebrate her 100th birthday Nov. 19. She was born on the Budd Farm near Millbrook. She graduated salutatorian from Yorkville High School. In 1937 she graduated with honors from the University of Illinois with a degree in Home Economics (Dietetics). She started her Masters Degree at Florida State College for Women, now Florida State University. That summer she worked in Washington D.C. She married Eugene F. Duncan, Nov. 6, 1938. Ida was a farm wife until their retired. Eugene died in 1996.

Ida has 2 sons, David B. (Marcia) and Wayne E. (Polley). Her grandchildren and great grandchildren are Bill (Amy) and their sons, Trenton and Cael, Denise (Ganesh) Ganpat and their two sons, Grant and Blake, and Jeff Duncan, Abigail (Matthew) Todd and their children, Caleb, Aurelia, and Peter Todd.

Ida is a member of Center Presbyterian Church, Home and Community Education Association, Mercer County Historical Society, and Mercer County Home Economists. She played bridge for many, many years. Ida lives at Genesis Senior Living and is very content.
