Sandburg Presents ‘The Fantasticks’ Jan. 23-24, 29-31 at Orpheum Theatre
GALESBURG—Carl Sandburg College presents a production of the off-Broadway musical “The Fantasticks” from Jan. 23-24 and 29-31 at the historic Orpheum Theatre, 57 S. Kellogg St. Show times for each date are 7:30 p.m., with additional matinee performances at 2:30 p.m. Jan. 24 and 31.
Featuring music by Harvey Schmidt and lyrics by Tom Jones, “The Fantasticks” tells the story of two neighboring fathers who trick their children into falling in love by pretending to feud with each other. The original production, which debuted in 1960, ran for 42 years and was the world’s longest-running musical. In 1992, it was awarded the Tony Honors for Excellence in Theatre.
Tickets are $10 for adults and $5 for students. Admission is free for Sandburg students who present their College ID. Each performance also includes limited seating on the stage of the Orpheum.
