It’s a fact, American’s love our pizza – we consume 100 acres of pizza a day and buy 350 slices every second! But did you ever stop to think about where your pizza comes from? Let’s look at a typical pizza: First you need a crust – made from wheat. Add sauce – made from tomatoes; Cheese from milk of dairy cows, Pepperoni or Sausage from pigs; and green peppers and onions from a garden- yum. Did you ever stop to think where all of these delicious ingredients originate? That’s right – a farm. From the pizza you eat for dinner to the cereal you eat for breakfast – agriculture impacts your daily life in more ways than you think.

University of Illinois Extension & 4-H and Mercer County Agriculture Education invite you to learn more about where your pizza – and hundreds of other things, come from. Stop by Happy Joe’s in Aledo, Ill on Saturday February 28 anytime between 11 am – and 1 pm to play some games, win some prizes and walk away with a greater appreciation for the farmers and producers that live and work in our great community. You’ll see how farmers supply us with essential products we use every day!
