Appellate Court upholds Ryan Bell sentence

On Feb. 11 The Appellate Court for the 3rd District in Ottawa again affirmed his 20 year sentence for a brutal sexual assault in Aledo in 2006. The court also approved that it was correct to additionally impose a three year to life mandatory supervised release (parole). Meeghan Lee, Assistant State's Attoeny, thanked the State Appellate Prosecutor's office for its help over the years of successfully fighting Bell's efforts to get out of prison. Linda Schroeder, victim advocate for the Mercer County State's Attorney's Office, commented, "finally after almost 10 years the victim can stop worrying for a long time seeing this person in Court or out on the street as he must serve at least 85 percent of his sentence."
