United board increases fees

At its Feb. 12 meeting United School Board members approved ncreasin hot lunch fees by 10 cents. Pre-K through fifth grade students will pay $2.30 while hotse in sixth through 12th grade will pay $2./5. The tech users fee was increased by $5 to $25. According to Superintendent Jeff Whitsitt, "The increase will help cover costs to improve technology between school and home."

Whitsitt discussed the 2015-16 school calendar. He said, "We're a month late with this but since we didn't meet i January, I'll get it out to the staff tomorrow and we'll reexamine it in March." Whitsitt added, "The tentative start date is somewhere between Aug 17-24."

The board approved a resolution, giving Whitsitt permission to begin the preparation of a tentative budget or 2015-16.

Board members received policy manual adoptions concerning bullying, cyberbullying and board member communications.

The Knox, Henerson, Mercer, Warren Regional Office of Education is the name for the reorganized group.

The Following resignations were regretfully accepted: Amanda Grade ad high school cheerleading coach and and Ryan Westhart as junior high basketball and football coach. Tony Martin was employed as night-time janitor, retroactive to Jan. 5.

The lease contract for 2015-16 with Midwest Bus Sales of Kankakee was approved.

An executive session was held to discuss personnel. Afterwards, Augusta Furrow was employed as junior high secretary with the intent to retire in two years.

Minutes format he December meeting, bills for january and February and the treasurer's monthly statements were approved.
