University of Illinois Extension invites local teens to the QC Teen Leadership Academy on Saturday, March 14 from 9 am – 3 pm in Moline

University of Illinois Extension is offering teens ages 13 and older the opportunity to build their leadership skills at a fun day-long retreat. It will be held on Saturday, March 14 from 9 am – 3 pm at Western Illinois University Quad Cities in Moline. There will be plenty of hands-on activities and snacks, a lunch from Jimmy Johns and even a program with the Guys in Ties improv comedy group at the end the day!

You’ll spend the morning meeting teens from across the Quad Cities during team building sessions followed by color’s training where you’ll identify your personality styles and explore communication skills. After lunch from Jimmy Johns, the afternoon sessions will feature 4-H Teens as Teachers showcasing some of their community service projects followed by a diversity awareness segment. The day ends with a comedy show featuring Guy in Ties. Those who participate in this leadership retreat will be invited to get involved by serving as teen leaders at summer day camps, and/or planning future events and community service projects for QC Teen Leaders.

The cost to attend is $20 ($10 for 4-H members) and includes lunch and snacks. Full and half-fee scholarships are available for those in need. Registration is limited to 60 participants and registration is due by Monday, March 9 so don’t delay.
